Robert Plant receives the Record Store Legend award

Robert Plant has received the Record Store Legend award ahead of Record Store Day later this month. This award recognizes the Led Zeppelin frontman for his significant influence on music and his support for new artists and record stores. The announcement was made on Record Store Day’s Instagram.

Plant attended a special ceremony at Spillers Records in Cardiff, Wales, which is the oldest record store in the world. He expressed his love for record stores, saying, “Record stores have always been a part of my life. Once you get to the physical record, it’s because you really want to know and be a part of what the artist was considering.” He emphasized the importance of the connection between music and the art that comes with it.

Record Store Day is set for April 18. This year, Plant will release a four-track EP titled Saving Grace: All That Glitters with his band Saving Grace and singer Suzi Dian. The Record Store Legend award was first given to Elton John in 2017, and Johnny Marr from The Smiths received it in 2025.
