Rock Hall Induction Ceremony Will Be Broadcast Live This Year

This year, for the first time, fans can watch the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony live without attending the show. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced that the induction ceremony will be broadcast live on Disney+. The show is on Friday, November 3, at 8 pm ET at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. It will be available on demand following the ceremony. ABC will offer a highlights show on Monday, January 1, 2024, from 8 pm – 11 pm ET.

But the big question for fans is, who is going to perform? Of all of the inductees, the press release only mentions four. “Fans can expect the stage to come alive with rare once-in-a-lifetime performances and collaborations by Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, Chaka Khan, and Willie Nelson.”

Who Wasn’t Mentioned?

Rage Against the Machine was not mentioned, although their guitar player Tom Morello is on the Rock Hall’s nominating committee. And some were hoping that the famously stage-shy Kate Bush would perform a few songs, but that also seems unlikely.

The press release did mention some of the special guest performers who will be on hand, but didn’t say which artists they would honor: Brandi Carlile, Dave Matthews, H.E.R., Chris Stapleton, St. Vincent, New Edition, Elton John “and many more” will hit the stage. Although it seems likely that Elton John will perform a tribute to Bernie Taupin, his longtime songwriting partner. Taupin has written the lyrics to most (but not all) of Elton’s classics. His list of credits includes “Someone Saved My Life Tonight,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Candle In The Wind,” among countless others.

The full list of this year’s inductees includes: Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine and The Spinners. DJ Kool Herc and Link Wray will be honored with the Musical Influence award. Chaka Khan, Al Kooper and Bernie Taupin will get the Musical Excellence award. And Don Cornelius is being honored with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
