Roger Waters says that he rejected a “huge” offer from Facebook for the use of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall Part II.” Never one to pull punches — whether he’s talking about ex-bandmates or world leaders — he also called Facebook’s boss, Mark Zuckerberg “one of the most powerful idiots in the world.”
Speaking during an event that’s part of a “Whistle Stop” campaign to free WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, Waters said Zuckerberg wanted to use the song in a film to promote Facebook and Instagram (Facebook owns Instagram).
The video of Waters’ response — which is extremely NSFW — can be found here. But he said, in part that the offer “Arrived this morning, with an offer of a huge, huge amount of money, and the answer is – ‘F— you! No f—ing way!’”
Waters continued to mock Zuckerberg, and Facebook’s origins as a site that ranked the attractiveness of women at Harvard, saying, “You think, ‘How did this little p—- – who started off by saying, ‘She is pretty, we’ll give her a four out of five,’ ‘She’s ugly, we’ll give her a one’ – how the f— did he get any power in anything? And yet here he is, one of the most powerful idiots in the world.”
