Roger Waters continued his war of words with David Gilmour and his wife, Polly Sampson, during a recent show at London’s O2 Arena. In the video below from the U.K.’s Campaign Against Antisemitism, Waters addresses Sampson’s comments earlier this year where she called him antisemitic and a Vladimir Putin apologist.
“February the 4th, there’s a lady who lives, I think, somewhere in London tweeting appalling things about me,” begins Waters. ” … She talked about me being an antisemite to my rotten core, and I was really upset. It may have been contributory to the whole enthusiasm the Israeli lobby has developed since that time to have me wiped off the face of the Earth.”
Waters has made many comments recently related to forces that tried to get a May 28 show in Germany of his canceled. A court eventually ruled he was allowed to perform said show.
He concluded, ” … All I have to say about Polly Sampson is imagine waking up to that every morning. Come on! You can do better than that.”
Now @RogerWaters responds to former Pink Floyd lyricist @PollySamson’s charge that he is “antisemitic to [his] rotten core” in a tweet from February. He tells his laughing fans: “All I have to say about Polly Samson is: imagine waking up to that every morning.”

Additionally, Waters has caught the ire of the United States Department of State. This is related to the stage attire he wears during performances of songs from Pink Floyd’s 1979 album The Wall. This is similar to attire featured in the 1982 film adaption of The Wall. Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt tweeted, “I wholeheartedly concur with @EUAntisemitism’s condemnation of Roger Waters and his despicable Holocaust distortion.”
