Rolling Stones’ $130m ‘No Filter’ Tour Logs Further Box Office Landmarks

The Rolling Stones’ recently-completed No Filter tour of the US, the poignant excursion in which they hit the road for the first time without the departed Charlie Watts, has claimed another box office achievement. Billboard Boxscore reports that the final six dates of the itinerary in November were enough to give the rock giants the top tour status for that entire month.

The Stones had already topped the October listings with their run of six shows during that month, and the tour as a whole had the first nine-figure gross of the pandemic era. Total ticket sales for the complete routing, which began at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on September 20, were $130.9 million. The latest landmark saw the November dates gross $58.6 million from ticket sales of 237,000, an average of nearly $10m per show and an audience average of 40,000 fans.

The November shows on the tour were at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ford Field in Detroit, Circuit of the Americas in Austin, and a final, smaller date at Hard Rock Live, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, a 6,725 sellout. Without this club-style show, the November audience average was some 46,000.

Boxscore reports that the No Filter tour in its four-leg entirety, dating back to 2017, accounts for an astonishing total gross of $546.5 million, and sales of 2.9 million tickets. The tour played European runs in 2017 and 2018, and a North American leg in 2019 before being interrupted by the pandemic.

As reported, the band followed the tour’s conclusions with an emotional celebration of Watts’ life, a private event amid friends and family, at one of the much-loved drummer’s favorite clubs, Ronnie Scott’s in London, where he played many times, on December 6.
