Rush Bassist Geddy Lee Hints at New Music After Reunion Tour with Drummer Anika Nilles

Geddy Lee has shared that Rush is likely to create new music after their 2026 reunion tour. The bassist revealed that he and guitarist Alex Lifeson plan to write songs together once the 50 Something Tour is over.

Before the tour, Lee intended to work on new music solo. However, after jamming with Lifeson, he saw the potential for collaboration. “Now, I assumed I would be doing that on my own, not with Alex, but when we started jamming, I started seeing the possibility of doing something with Alex,” Lee said. But for now, all plans are on hold due to the busy tour preparations.

Lee, Lifeson, and drummer Anika Nilles are rehearsing 40 songs for the tour setlist. “If we manage to survive the tour and go back to Canada and have a rest, who knows what’ll happen, but I suspect some music will eventually come out,” Lee added.

Anika Nilles, who toured with Jeff Beck in 2022, is stepping in for the late Neil Peart, who passed away in January 2020. This reunion marks the first time Lee and Lifeson will perform as Rush since 2015. Lee picked up the bass again in early 2024 after finishing his memoir tour. Lifeson called him to jam, and they began revisiting old songs, which led to plans for the tour.

The initial seven dates sold out quickly, prompting the band to expand to 17 cities across Canada, the US, and Mexico. Additionally, Rush will release a Super Deluxe edition of their 1984 album, Grace Under Pressure, in March, featuring remixed tracks by producer Terry Brown.

The 50 Something Tour kicks off on June 7 at the KIA Forum in Los Angeles, the same venue where they had their final show with Peart in 2015. Fans can find tour info and tickets online.
