Guitarist Scott Ian discusses balancing fan favorites with songs from the band’s upcoming 12th album.
Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian spoke with Steve Harkins of TalkShopLive about the difficulty of selecting songs for the band’s 90-minute headlining shows. As the band prepares to release its 12th studio album, Cursum Perficio, Ian explained that satisfying every fan is impossible given their extensive catalog, though live staples such as “Caught in a Mosh” remain essential to their performances.
The group has already begun introducing new material to their live sets. At a recent show at St. Vitus in Brooklyn, Anthrax performed three songs from Cursum Perficio: “It’s For the Kids,” “Everybody’s Got a Plan,” and “The Edge of Perfection.” During the same show, the band filmed a music video for “NYC 93,” which Ian stated will likely be added to future setlists.
