Selena Gomez has released her highly anticipated new single, “999” with Camilo, along with a splashy video by famed music video director Sophie Muller.

Coinciding with the contagious rhythm of the track, its video features both Gomez and Camilo in a visually natural setting, which coincides with the track’s simple and organic manner. Selena’s and Camilo’s performance is timeless and natural, showing a true and real connection when interpreting the lyrics, decorated by dreamy and natural settings.

The track was produced by Grammy and Latin Grammy Award winner Edgar Barrera along with A.C. and Camilo. About her collaboration with Camilo, Selena shared, “Camilo is a fantastic songwriter and singer who proudly wears his heart on his sleeve which is something we connected on immediately. I couldn’t have been more excited to collaborate with him.”

Camilo added, “Working with Selena Gomez is a tremendous honor and a huge moment in my career. From the beginning, 999 was written based on the color of her voice, and it wouldn’t have existed if it wasn’t for the dream of this collaboration. I’m very excited and it means so much to me to have this beautiful song, with an artist whom I respect and have followed for so long.”

This is Gomez’s first track since releasing her first Spanish-language EP, Revelación, in March, which featured the Latin hits “Baila Conmigo” and “Selfish Love.” The EP follows her previous album, Rare, from 2020.

Though Selena is dropping new music, she has also been keeping her acting chops sharp. The pop idol will be starring in the forthcoming psychological thriller Spiral which will be executive produced by Drake. The film will be the feature directorial debut of Petra Collins.

Spiral will follow Gomez’s character, a former social media influencer who experiences a dramatic physical response to her addiction to social media: her body completely falling apart in pieces.

Spiral is one of a number of recent film endeavors Gomez has taken on. The musician and actress recently wrapped filming on Only Murders in the Building, a Hulu comedy series that follows three neighbors with a true-crime obsession who find themselves embroiled in a crime scene of their own. Gomez plays Mabel Mora and stars alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin.

Since 2012, Gomez has been a part of the Hotel Transylvania animated series as the voice of Mavis, the daughter of Dracula. The fourth installment of the series, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania will be released on October 1. Its initial April 2020 release date was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, Gomez’s HBO Max cooking series Selena + Chef was recently renewed for a third season on the streaming platform.
