Selena’s iconic Amor Prohibido is set to be re-released for a special 30th anniversary edition, both digitally and in physical formats.

The 30th anniversary edition, newly mixed and remastered, will also be available in Dolby Atmos/Spatial Audio. The project will hit DSPs on March 22, and physical formats will be available for pre-order on that day as well.

The album, which will be available on vinyl for the first time ever, will be available in three different formats, one of which will arrive exclusively via Target. Additionally, fans can buy the album on CD and cassette.

The 1994 album represented a significant milestone for Selena, as Amor Prohibido was the first Tejano album in history to reach No.1 on the Top Latin Albums chart.

The album includes the iconic hits “Amor Prohibido,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” “No Me Queda Más,” and more. A special commemorative 30th-anniversary artwork was created for the physical music products.

The album arrived a year before Selena’s posthumously released smash hit Dreaming Of You. The album featured songs in the English language and was conceived to establish the young “Queen of Tejano” music—who by 23 was a Latina icon—as a star in the mainstream American market.

When it was released, Dreaming of You surpassed even the wildest of expectations. It became the first album by a Latin artist to debut at number one on the Billboard 100. Sales in its first week, according to Soundscan, made Selena second only to Michael Jackson as the artist with the fastest-selling album of 1995. The headline on one Associated Press article soon after the album’s release proclaimed that Dreaming of You “finally makes Selena a national star.”
