Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish And More Nominated In MTV Movie And TV Awards Social Categories

Ahead of the the two part ceremony honoring the biggest moments in film and tv, two additional sets of nominees have been announced for the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The social categories of Best Music Documentary and Best Music Moment will be open for fan voting starting May 10 and May 11, respectively.

The Best Music Documentary category highlights a slate of digitally released documentaries that encapsulate a particular moment in an artist’s career.

This year’s nominees include Ariana Grande for her Netflix concert film Excuse Me, I Love You, which goes behind the scenes of the pop star’s Sweetener tour, and Billie Eilish’s Apple TV+ documentary The World’s A Little Blurry, which explores the whirlwind release of the singer’s debut album When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go.

Demi Lovato’s latest documentary Dancing With The Devil is also nominated at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards. Released in four parts on YouTube, the series delves into Lovato’s journey following a near-fatal overdose.

Taylor Swift has received a nomination for her Netflix documentary Miss Americana, a film spanning from the singer’s Reputation era to the start of her Lover era. Once a tour companion of Swift’s, Shawn Mendes is also nominated for In Wonder, an honest look into the making of Wonder and the day-to-day of one of the the world’s biggest stars. The film was also released on Netflix.

The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart also finds itself amongst the 2021 Best Music Documentary nominees. The film explores the lives and legacies of Robin, Maurice and Barry Gibb.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards Best Music Moment category highlights songs that embodied and elevated the scenes in which they appeared. This year’s nominated tracks include the orchestral version of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” as it was performed in Bridgerton, “Agatha All Along” from the Disney+ series Wandavision, Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” from Love & Monsters and more.

The 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards will be airing in two parts. Night one, May 16, highlights scripted film and TV material, while night two, May 17, is donned MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted. Rap legend Snoop Dogg is set to make an appearance as the DJ for the first night of the awards.
