Shinedown Explain Why New LP ‘Planet Zero’ Has Been Pushed Back

Shinedown was planning on releasing their new album Planet Zero next Friday (April 22), but due to issues beyond their control, the LP will now be released on July 1.

The band issued a brief video embedded below along with the caption, “We’ve made the difficult decision to move the album release from April 22nd to July 1st due to delays in vinyl production. We want to ensure our fans have FULL access to Planet Zero via every possible medium on the day it comes out! Much love! – Brent, Zach, Barry, Eric.”

Issues pertaining to physical album production — particularly vinyl — were brought up last month by Jack White. The artist/label head of Third Man Records called on the three major record label groups — Sony Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group — to build their own vinyl pressing plants (again.)

In the clip below, White says, in part, “It’s 2022 now, and it’s no longer a fad. Vinyl records have exploded in the past decade, and their demand is incredibly high. A small punk band can’t get their record for eight to ten months. And I now ask the major labels — Warner Brothers, Universal and Sony — to finally build your own pressing plants again.”

He concluded, “As the MC5 once said, ‘You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution.’ Thank you.”
