Brent Smith, the frontman of Shinedown, recently shared the sad news that his mother, Patricia Ann Smith, passed away in January. In an emotional Instagram post, he expressed how much his mother meant to him. “All of the love I have in my heart came from my Mother,” he wrote. He described her as the sweetest and most loving person he ever knew.
Brent reflected on their relationship, saying he wasn’t always the easiest child to raise, but his mom never gave up on him. “She allowed me to make mistakes,” he shared. “She encouraged me to chase my dreams and taught me that while none of us are perfect, we must learn from each other to take care of one another.”
He expressed deep gratitude for the time they had together and felt honored to be with her when she passed. Brent was able to tell her how much he loved her and hoped he made her proud. He will always remember the love in her eyes when she told him, “Son, there’s no way to measure how proud I am and how much I love you, because our bond is forever.”
