Wolfgang Van Halen fights ‘crowd dysmorphia’ while trusting in Mammoth’s triumph

Wolfgang Van Halen and his band Mammoth have scored their fourth #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with their latest single, “The Spell.” Wolf shared that this success feels “a little difficult to believe.”

“I think I’m my own toughest critic,” he said. “I create music for myself, and it’s amazing to know that others can hear it, enjoy it, and find their own meaning in it.”

Wolf also mentioned struggling with what he calls “crowd dysmorphia.” He finds it hard to gauge if people are genuinely enjoying the music. “When I see someone having a good time, it almost feels sarcastic,” he joked. “I guess that’s just how hard I am on myself.”

However, with the band’s growing success and more fans showing up to their shows, that feeling is starting to fade. “We’ve played almost 350 shows in the last four years. It’s humbling to see people enjoy our music and want to come back,” Wolf said.

“The Spell” is from Mammoth’s upcoming album, *The End*, set to release in 2025. The band will kick off a U.S. headlining tour in March and will join Bush on the road in April. Fans can look forward to an exciting year ahead!
