Skid Row Intensifies Search for New Lead Singer Nearly Two Years After Vocalist Exit

Skid Row is getting closer to finding a new lead singer after nearly two years without one. Bassist Rachel Bolan shared that the band will be auditioning more candidates throughout the year, working alongside management and producer Nick Raskulinecz. “We have a couple guys on our radar,” Bolan said in a recent interview. Raskulinecz, known for his work with Foo Fighters and Rush, will help in the search for the next frontman.

The band parted ways with Erik Gronwall in 2024 due to health issues and the demands of touring. Bolan explained, “We had a really good thing going with Erik. I think the road was just too much for him with his past health issues. It just didn’t work out, which was a bummer. He was great. I mean, he fit right in.”

The audition process has been thorough. Bolan talked about how they evaluate each candidate, saying, “We’re all going through each person saying, like, ‘Okay, let’s get in a room with this person [or] this person is a little too young, or a little too green, or they can’t sing. Who told them they could sing?’” Chemistry is key, and Bolan is excited about the current group of candidates. The band hopes to get back on stage before the year ends.

Since parting ways with Sebastian Bach nearly 30 years ago, Skid Row has had several singers. Both Bolan and Snake Sabo have ruled out any chance of reuniting with Bach. Lzzy Hale from Halestorm filled in for a few shows in May 2024 after Gronwall’s departure. Meanwhile, the band has been working on new music during this transition. Bolan is also preparing to release a solo album expected in June. Skid Row’s latest studio album, The Gang’s All Here, came out in October 2022 and is available for download and streaming.
