Slash Reveals Guns N’ Roses’ Big Plan for 2027: New Music Over More Touring

Guns N’ Roses plans to take a break from touring in 2027 as the band turns its attention to new music, according to guitarist Slash.

During a recent interview, Slash revealed that the band intends to step away from the road after completing its remaining 2026 tour dates. The guitarist hopes the break will give the group the time it needs to organize its growing collection of musical ideas and begin working on new material.

“We have so much material,” Slash explained, adding that the band needs to bring its ideas together and focus on developing them.

Slash: Guns N’ Roses Has Plenty of Material to Work With

Slash said Guns N’ Roses has accumulated a substantial amount of material, but the band still needs to sort through it and decide how to move forward.

The guitarist explained that organizing the songs requires time and concentration, two things that touring makes difficult to find. Slash hopes the planned break will allow the group to enter that next phase of the creative process.

He did not announce a release date or confirm when fans could expect a new album. However, his comments suggest that Guns N’ Roses wants to prioritize songwriting and development instead of immediately returning to another extensive tour.

Why Guns N’ Roses Struggles to Write Music While Touring

According to Slash, the band members have different approaches to creating music on the road.

The guitarist said he finds it easy to write while traveling and sometimes stays up late working on ideas. However, bassist Duff McKagan and frontman Axl Rose pursue their own creative routines, making it difficult for the entire band to work together while touring.

“Getting us together and trying to do that while you’re touring is next to impossible,” Slash said.

The band’s schedule has kept its members busy for years, with the current reunion era beginning in 2016. Slash described the latest touring stretch as particularly enjoyable, saying both the band’s recent U.S. run and its European dates ranked among its best since the reunion began.

Before the planned 2027 pause, Guns N’ Roses will complete its remaining international shows in November and December. The schedule includes performances in India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
