Sleep Token has taken the top spot on The New York Times’ Best Songs of 2025 list with their track “Caramel.” This song is the second single from their album *Even in Arcadia*, which was released on May 9. Earlier this week, the publication revealed its rankings, featuring 50 songs across two categories. Writer Jon Caramanica praised “Caramel,” calling it “a huge, gloriously silly and brutally effective amalgam of abandoned styles ripe for reinvigorating — rap-metal, dream-prog, pop-reggaeton, backpack hip-hop, cosplay rock, metalcore and more.”
“Caramel” was released on April 4 and helped *Even in Arcadia* debut at number one in the U.S. The album sold 127,000 album-equivalent units, including 73,000 actual album sales, marking Sleep Token’s first number one record in the U.S. The album also topped charts in eight other countries.
In the UK, “Caramel” made history as the first track from Sleep Token to reach the top 10, hitting number 10 on the UK Singles chart and number one on the UK Rock & Metal chart. In the U.S., it reached number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their first top 40 single in America.
“Caramel” has been nominated for Best Rock Song at the 2026 GRAMMY Awards, while the lead single “Emergence” received a nomination for Best Metal Performance. The GRAMMY ceremony will take place on February 1 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
This past June, Sleep Token headlined the Download Festival in Donington, performing for 80,000 fans alongside Green Day and Korn. They recently wrapped up a sold-out North American tour, ending at the same venue that will host the GRAMMYs. Fans can check out Sleep Token’s latest album now!
