Smino Announces ‘NØIR’ Reissue

Smino’s second studio album, NØIR, is receiving the reissue treatment. Originally released on November 8, 2018 via Interscope Records, NØIR features appearances from Young Pink, Ravyn Lenae, Dreezy, and Valee. The album is led by the singles “L.M.F”, “FENTY SEX,” “Z4L” and utilizes a blend of neo-soul, funk, and hip-hop with a prominent R&B influence. The reissue arrives August 30 and is available on a standard 2LP black vinyl and 2LP eComm vinyl.

NØIR followed Smino’s 2017 debut album, blkswan, which featured collaborations with Ravyn Lenae, Noname, and more. The album’s production was handled by Smino himself alongside Monte Booker, Sango, THEMpeople, Phoelix, Krs, Al B Smoov, and Da-P. Smino told Rolling Stone that he wanted NØIR to stand on its own: “I just didn’t want to make the same album.” NØIR debuted at No. 191 on the Billboard 200.

Following NØIR, Smino formed a supergroup called Ghetto Sage with Saba and Noname. Their debut single, “Häagen Dazs,” arrived in 2019. That same year, Smino collaborated with Doja Cat on “Won’t Bite,” Chance the Rapper on “Eternal,” and more. In 2020 he dropped a mixtape called She Already Decided. In 2020 he was also featured on the Madden NFL 21 soundtrack on the song “Backstage Pass” alongside Monte Booker and The Drums.

Ahead of his third studio album, Smino released the standalone singles “I Deserve” and “24-8.” Smino released 2022’s Luv 4 Rent, via a new deal with Motown in partnership with his independent label Zero Fatigue. The album included the singles “90 Proof,” “Matinee,” and “Ole A__ Kendrick” and featured appearances from J. Cole, Doechii, Lil Uzi Vert, Ravyn Lenae, and more. In 2022, Smino was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for his work on Yebba’s Dawn.
