Social Distortion Set to Release First New Album in 15 Years This May

Social Distortion is set to release a new studio album in May, marking their first original music since 2011’s *Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes*. Frontman Mike Ness confirmed that the project is complete and ready for a spring launch. He shared details about the album backstage at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas 2025 event in Los Angeles. Fans can expect the first single to drop this month.

This new album comes after a challenging time for Ness, who faced serious health issues. In 2023, doctors diagnosed him with stage-one tonsil cancer. Following surgery and treatment, he had to relearn how to speak and sing, but he is now back on stage.

Social Distortion has been a key player in the punk rock scene since 1978, blending punk with rockabilly, country, and other American roots sounds. They gained fame with their 1983 album *Mommy’s Little Monster* and continued to grow in popularity in the late 1980s with albums like *Social Distortion* and *Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell*.

Peter Chakerian, life and culture editor, noted, “Ness and ‘Social D’ never went away. They’ve been active on tour, and a new album is most welcome. It seems like the right time to be hearing from them.”

After recovering, Mike Ness is back on tour, working to regain confidence in his voice. Despite the long wait for new music, the band has continued to perform live. The 15-year gap between albums is one of the longest in their history. Fans can look forward to concert tickets and more updates about the upcoming album.
