Iron Maiden is set to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2025. Founding bassist and songwriter Steve Harris shared his thoughts on this milestone. “It’s pretty incredible when you think about it, but we don’t dwell on it too much,” he said. “We just do what we do, and others make a bigger fuss about it.”
Harris acknowledges the significance of reaching this milestone. “It’s a long time and an achievement. We won’t go on about it, but we’re aware of it. And we hope to keep going for a long time.”
Over the past 50 years, Iron Maiden has achieved a lot, but there are still a few places they want to visit. “There are a couple of countries we’d still like to get to,” Harris mentioned. “We were supposed to play in Bangkok once, but we had to cancel due to a military coup. Maybe one day we’ll bring the Iron Maiden plane back to make those shows easier!”
When it comes to the future, Harris isn’t thinking about retirement just yet. “I know it’s coming at some point, but I’m not focused on that,” he said. “I stay fit by playing football and tennis, but you never know what’s around the corner. That’s why it’s important to enjoy every gig while we can.”
Iron Maiden will kick off a North American tour in August, so fans can look forward to more live music from the legendary band!
