Stevie Nicks Marks One-Year Anniversary of Uvalde Mass Shooting

Stevie Nicks took to her social media channels to mark the one-year anniversary of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas at Robb Elementary School. The horrific tragedy resulted in the deaths of 19 children and two teachers.

Nicks shared one of her diary entries titled “The Lost Futures of Uvalde.” In the entry, she recalled her time living in El Paso, Texas when she was of elementary school age. This was a formative time for Nicks, because it was when she first fell in love with dance and music. She told her parents that she was going to be a ballerina and a singer.

Nicks said, in part, in her diary entry, “When I look back, it all happened so fast. I was just a ten-year-old in El Paso, Texas deciding what to do with the rest of my life. I knew my destiny so many pages ago…I got to grow up and join Fleetwood Mac. I got to write music for the world for 50 years that I hope has touched people’s hearts. I got to grow up and become Stevie Nicks.”

She continued, “As we ponder the one-year anniversary of Uvalde and the myriad of shootings that have happened since that fateful day, I can’t help but ask myself, ‘What if I had been shot and killed by a man with a gun while in my ballet class in the third grade?’ And I can’t help but think of all those little lost futures.”

Nicks concluded, ” … My arms go around each one of those little hearts like a ring of angels that will always be missing. I will never be able to let this go. If anything, I will do all I can to keep this story alive.”
