Stitched Up Heart released their new single “Cannibal” on March 17, featuring Heidi Shepherd from Butcher Babies. This track is part of their upcoming album, *Medusa*, which will be out on June 12 through Judge & Jury Records.
Frontwoman Alecia “Mixi” Demner expressed her excitement about the song, saying, “‘Cannibal’ is for the man-eaters, the baddies stealing hearts and eating them for breakfast.” She reminisced about attending Butcher Babies’ first show at a dive bar on the Sunset Strip, where Shepherd threw a broken Barbie doll into the crowd. Mixi caught it and felt it was a symbolic moment, as if Shepherd was passing her a torch to conquer the music industry together. “Years later, we’re still cheering each other on. Collaborating on this song is a fulfilling moment,” Mixi added.
Heidi Shepherd shared her thoughts on working with Mixi, saying, “I’ve been a fan of Mixi and Stitched Up Heart for nearly two decades. We’ve supported each other through this industry when no one else did.” She also mentioned how fitting it is that “Cannibal” is the song they finally get to scream together. “This song is so fun and has quickly become one of my favorite collaborations. You can see in the video that we had a blast making it.”
“Cannibal” is the third guest feature from *Medusa*, following tracks with Lauren Babic and members of Conquer Divide. The band will be hitting the road with Sebastian Bach and will also open for Infected Rain this summer. Fans can save or pre-order the album now.
