Supertramp’s Live In Paris Comes To 3LP For First Time

Supertramp fans will soon have the chance to experience their globe-spanning Breakfast In America tour as never before. Live In Paris, which presents one of the band’s sold out shows at the Pavillon de Paris, is coming to vinyl and CD for the first time. The set is officially available for purchase on February 28, 2025, and is available for pre-order now.

In 1980, Supertramp released their live album Paris, a live album capturing the massive success of their album Breakfast In America. That album featured selections from multiple of the four nights in Paris. The new album instead is the full set from their third night in the city, which had previously been released as a concert film in 2012. Live In Paris is the first time the audio of that show is available without the accompanying video footage, and includes songs that weren’t included in the original Paris album like “Child Of Vision” and “Another Man’s Woman.” The shows were also notable for the non-musical tricks the band deployed to keep the audience hooked, like the inclusion of a gorilla and an appearance from silent film legend Charlie Chaplin.

Breakfast In America was the top selling album of 1979, selling more than 20 million copies, and spawned massive singles for Supertramp like “The Logical Song,” “Goodbye Stanger,” and the title track. The band set out on tour for nearly ten months across North America and Europe with pianist and singer Rick Davies, singer and guitarist Roger Hodgson, singer and saxophonist John Helliwell, bassist Dougie Thomson, and drummer Bob Siebenberg. The latter recalls the era fondly, recalling, “Looking back at that period, it really was the experience of a lifetime… the best of times.” Adds Helliwell, “Those Paris shows were a definite high point for us because you could feel the audience reaction. You can actually hear the volatility in the French crowd. They sound a little mad!”
