Las Vegas nightlife may be getting (even more) interesting in the not-so-distant future, as Take That eyes a residency in Las Vegas.

The UK boy band that gave the world Robbie Williams and a slew of No.1 hits, including “Relight My Fire,” “Everything Changes,” “Back for Good,” and “Never Forget,” is all grown up and ready to take on a rather adult responsibility. Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen have already been working on the idea, and if it weren’t for the nasty inconvenience of a certain pandemic, they might have already gotten the whole thing nailed down.

In a recent interview with Heat, Barlow raised the hopes of US. fans (and those of anybody willing to cross an ocean for Take That as well) by confiding, “Just before lockdown we were so close to signing contracts to do a residency in Vegas and we want to do that.” Don’t go booking your flight quite yet though.

Apparently, there are still some details to be ironed out before Take That can put the town on their itinerary. “It won’t be next year, but we’re hoping for 2023,” says Barlow. “It’s something we all want to do and I think our fans would love it.”

The gambling mecca that was once famous for hosting immortal icons of cool like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. Is catering to another generation now, and these days some top-tier artists have been answering the call. Katy Perry is beginning her own Vegas residency this very night, while Adele and John Legend have each recently mapped out their plans for residencies of their own.

And while it’s been many years since Robbie Williams was a Take That member, he did appear in a one-off reunion with the group last May as a livestreamed benefit for music therapy organization Nordoff Robbins and Crew Nation, which aids concert crews furloughed for the pandemic. So maybe a guest shot isn’t out of the question. After all, there’s no better place to pursue an against-the-odds proposition than Vegas.
