The Afghan Whigs have just released a new single titled “Duvateen.” Frontman Greg Dulli shared that finishing the song felt like a reflection on his life. He mentioned that the lyrics about a teacher chasing him in school brought back memories from his childhood, and the line about digging a hole hints at a grave. Dulli explained that he is at a point in his life where he can look back at his youth while also seeing what lies ahead, which will influence his future work.
“Duvateen” comes after their March release, “House of I,” and fans can expect a new album later in 2026. Their last album, “How Do You Burn?” was released in 2022. To celebrate their 40th anniversary, the Afghan Whigs will kick off a U.S. tour this Saturday in Woodstock, New York.
