The Barbarians of California, a side project of AWOLNATION’s frontman Aaron Bruno, has announced their new album titled MEGATONS, set to release on August 21. This album is the follow-up to their 2024 debut, And Now I’m Just Gnashing My Teeth.
Eric Stenman, a member of the Barbarians, shared his thoughts on making a second album. He noted that while many worry about the “sophomore slump,” starting this band later in life has eased some of that pressure. He described the process as easy and said the new album feels like a natural progression from their first songs, just bigger and better.
MEGATONS will feature previously released tracks like “VANILLA LATTE,” “BOMB TO A KNIFE FIGHT,” and “MODERN FASHION.” A new song, “THE GNARLYCORE CLASS,” is also available now.
The Barbarians will be opening for Guns N’ Roses on two dates in August and September, and they have a series of headlining shows planned for September. AWOLNATION’s latest album is The Phantom Five, released in 2024.
