Digital Noise Mag had the privilege to attend Bastille’s Doom Days tour at The MET in Philadelphia, Pa. on September 16, 2019. Being the first stop on this tour, we got a taste of how Doom Days is performed live. Even running into technical issues & lead singer Dan beginning to lose his voice; that did not stop them from giving the fans an unforgettable night.
Opening the night with well-known hit “Quarter Past Midnight”, adding a combination of the classical concert visuals on the screen with a twist of a late night party vibe which included a retro scratchy television and everyday couch. During ‘Those Nights’ Dan displayed a live visual of the music video with the small stage spinning as he slouched down on the couch in the middle of the “party”. Giving the fans one of the best stage appearances I’ve seen in awhile, taking us into the entire experience of what happens after midnight. Even performing throwbacks from Bad Blood, such as “Things We Lost in the Fire”, “Bad Blood”, “Of the Night” and my personal favorite, “Flaws” in which singer Dan jumped off stage, walked through the crowd singing and dancing with the fans as they jumped around and praised him with gratitude. Ending off the night with the hit that made the band who they are today, also off the 2013 album “Bad Blood”, the dark powerful “Pompeii”. Unfortunately, the only show so far on tour that didn’t get to hear “Million Pieces” but we know our boys will be back in the city soon enough.
