Ahead of this year’s Record Store Day, Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip have been named Record Store Day Canada’s 2024 Canadian Ambassadors. As ambassadors, the group will be releasing an exclusive standalone live album, Live at CBGB’s, on Record Store Day. The global celebration of the culture of independent record stores will take place this year on April 20th, marking its 17th anniversary.

Live At CBGB features nine live songs originally recorded on January 14, 1993, at the legendary New York venue CBGB’s. On that evening, The Tragically Hip launched their third studio album, Fully Completely, in America with an intimate event. This concert recording will be available on April 20th for the first time as a 12 pink vinyl at participating record stores in Canada and the US.

Established in 1984, this year marks 40 years of The Tragically Hip. The group share that they will be honoring “four decades of music, friendship and philanthropy” with a yearlong celebration. The band will follow up Record Store Day Canada with a new deluxe package of their breakthrough album, Up To Here, and a four-part Amazon documentary series.
