Roger Daltrey has responded to Ringo Starr’s comments during a recent show at The Piece Hall in Halifax. The tension began when The Who announced they were parting ways with drummer Zak Starkey, who is Ringo’s son. Ringo reportedly called Daltrey a “little man,” prompting Daltrey to fire back on stage, saying, “Little man, according to Ringo,” before launching into their classic hit, “Who Are You,” much to the crowd’s excitement.
The drama unfolded when Pete Townshend shared the news of Zak’s departure on social media. He wrote, “After many years of great work on drums from Zak, the time has come for a change. A poignant time. Zak has lots of new projects in hand, and I wish him the best. Scott Devours, who has played with Roger’s solo band, will join The Who for our final shows.”
Things took a turn during a performance of “The Song Is Over” when Daltrey missed his cue by four bars. Starkey commented, “He just got lost,” adding that Daltrey blamed the drums for being too loud, which led to a social media fallout.
Ringo defended his son, sharing Zak’s thoughts: “I’ve never liked the way that little man runs that band.”
Now, with Scott Devours stepping in, The Who is ready to hit the stage with new energy. Fans are eager to see how this change will affect the band as they prepare for their final shows.
