Digital Noise Mag was able to attend The RevivalistsTake Good Care tour at the Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday January 12, 2019. The nine man American rock band was formed in New Orleans, LA. in 2007 which is made up of members; David Shaw whom is lead vocals, Ed Williams on the pedal steel guitar as well as guitar,  Zack Feinberg also on the guitar, Rob Ingraham playing the saxophone, George Gekas found on bass guitar, Andrew Campanelli playing drums & percussion along with PJ Howard on the drums, and last but certainly not least Michael Girardot on the keyboards & trumpet. In the summer of 2018 the band released their single “All My Friends” which hit the charts claiming the number 1 spot on Alternative Radio Billboard, the track is off their latest album titled Take Good Care which was fully released November 2018. This is the band’s fourth-full length album expressing their jazz-funk tunes still hanging on to their natural blues rock sounds and vibes.

David Shaw brought endless energy to the show; closely interacting with the crowd engaging them with the  mutual love for each other and music, doing so by referencing the notable history of Philadelphia known as the City of Brotherly Love. An interesting aspect of The Revivalists is that they utilize their instruments to the fullest by naturally bringing their sound to life. By starting off the night with the famous track “All My Friends”, foreshadowing a great night ahead for the fans. Not stopping the excitement there, the band performed some of their older hits which were definitely a fan favorite such as “It Was a Sin” & “Wish I Knew You”. Lyrically, the best of the setlist, was the track “Got Love” which is such a powerful song to add to their show, that seemed to hook the audience screaming an enormous amount of love to communicate towards one another.

An unique way to wrap up their show in Philadelphia, was with not just one but TWO encores; performing one of their well-known hit of 2008 “Soulfight”, holding such a personal meaning to some of the bandmates and the fans as well. Ending the night with a beautiful solo by Michael Girardot playing the trumpet into the crowd as the band exists the stage.
