1944: Denny Laine, co-founder of Moody Blues and Wings, was born in Tyseley, Birmingham, England. He started with the Moody Blues before joining Wings in 1971, thanks to his friendship with Paul McCartney.

1946: Peter Green was born in Bethnal Green, London, England. As the founder and guitarist of Fleetwood Mac, he recorded blues classics like “The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown),” “Black Magic Woman,” and “Oh Well,” making him one of the most influential British blues guitarists.

1971: Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident at just 24 years old. The Allman Brothers Band continued on and released the successful album Eat a Peach a year later.

1983: Pink Floyd’s album The Dark Side of the Moon made history by spending its 491st week on the Billboard 200, becoming the longest-charting album in U.S. history. It remained on the chart until 1988, totaling 741 weeks.
