October 6 has seen many memorable sports moments over the years. Here are some highlights:

In 1882, the Cincinnati Red Stockings defeated the Chicago White Stockings 4-0 in the first postseason matchup of champions from different leagues, a precursor to the World Series. Fast forward to 1908, when the Tigers clinched the American League Pennant.

In 1911, legendary pitcher Cy Young played his final game, ending his career with a loss to the Brooklyn Dodgers. The 1920 World Series featured brothers Wheeler and Jimmy Johnston facing off, marking a historic first. Babe Ruth made history in 1926 by hitting three home runs in a World Series game.

The Yankees won their 11th World Series in 1947, and in 1963, the Dodgers swept the Yankees, with Sandy Koufax earning MVP honors. Jim Palmer became the youngest pitcher to throw a World Series shutout in 1966.

In 2010, Roy Halladay pitched a no-hitter in the postseason, and in 2013, the U.S. won the Presidents Cup for the fifth time in a row. The Vegas Golden Knights debuted in 2017, beating the Dallas Stars.
