Three Days Grace Guitarist Barry Stock Shares Life-Saving Heart Attack Experience to Inspire Others

Barry Stock, the guitarist for Three Days Grace, faced a serious health scare during a concert near Detroit in 2013. While performing “Good Life,” he felt what he thought was severe heartburn, something he rarely experiences. As the pain intensified, he dismissed it, believing he was too young for such issues.

Midway through the show, Stock called for help. “I was sitting there, asking my assistant for Tums, thinking I was just having a rough time,” he recalled. Despite the discomfort, he continued to play. After the final song, his bandmates urged him to seek medical attention. “They told me, ‘You really need to go to the hospital. It sounds like you’re having a heart attack,’” he said.

Fortunately, the concert was near Beaumont Hospital, a heart specialist center. “If I were anywhere else in America, I might not be here,” Stock admitted. The quick two-minute drive to the hospital was crucial.

As soon as he arrived, medical staff jumped into action. “The moment I got there, doctors were ready, and I was rushed down the hallway,” he shared. This close call prompted Stock to make significant lifestyle changes. He quit smoking and drinking, committing to a healthier lifestyle while on tour.

Fans can look forward to the band’s upcoming album, “Alienation,” set to release on August 22, 2025. Following the album launch, Three Days Grace will embark on a North American tour with Breaking Benjamin. Stay tuned for more updates on the new album and tour details!
