Three former members of Breaking Benjamin are set to perform next year on March 7 at Front Street Station in Northumberland, PA. They are calling themselves We Are Not Alone. The lineup includes guitarist Aaron Fink, bassist Mark Klepaski, and drummer Jeremy Hummel, with Baxter Teal from Deepfield as their frontman.
This venue is located just north of Selinsgrove, PA, where Breaking Benjamin started back in 1999. Teal earned his spot as the lead singer by impressing the group with his performances of “Blow Me Away” and “So Cold” during auditions. Hummel was part of the original lineup in 1999 but left in 2004, with Chad Szeliga taking over on drums. Fink and Klepaski joined in 2002, the same year the band released their debut album, Saturate, under Hollywood Records.
Teal previously led Deepfield, a rock band he formed with Shinedown bassist Eric Bass. They toured extensively in the 2000s before disbanding in 2010. Teal has since released two more albums under the same name.
In the early 2010s, tensions arose within Breaking Benjamin. Singer Ben Burnley had a fallout with Fink and Klepaski over a hits package that included a remixed version of “Blow Me Away.” Burnley claimed he wasn’t consulted about the release and accused the two of acting behind his back. This led to their dismissal and a legal battle, with Burnley retaining the rights to the band name. Szeliga also left after the court’s decision.
Since then, Burnley has continued with new members, releasing Dark Before Dawn in 2015 and Ember in 2019. Currently, We Are Not Alone has only one show scheduled, but they are in talks to add more dates in the future.
