Tiger Woods Charged With DUI After Accident in Florida, No Injuries

Golf legend Tiger Woods has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI after a two-car accident near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida. The incident happened Friday afternoon.

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek reported that Woods showed no signs of alcohol impairment and passed a breathalyzer test, but he refused a urine test. Officials noted that he appeared lethargic at the scene, leading them to believe he might be under the influence of drugs.

According to the sheriff, Woods was driving his car at high speeds when he tried to pass a truck with a trailer. To avoid a collision, he clipped the trailer, causing his vehicle to flip onto its side. Woods managed to crawl out of the passenger-side window before police arrived and noticed signs of impairment.

Sheriff Budensiek stated that Woods underwent several tests, and while they considered his past surgeries, he was ultimately arrested and taken to Martin County Jail. He faces charges of DUI, refusal to submit to a lawful test, and destruction of property.

At the jail, Woods again tested negative for alcohol, blowing triple-zeroes on the breathalyzer. However, he did not comply with the urinalysis request.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. near 281 Beach Road, but thankfully, neither Woods nor the truck driver was injured. Woods will be held for at least eight hours before he can post bail.

Despite this setback, Woods has been preparing for a return to competitive golf, eyeing the Masters Tournament in April. He recently played in the TGL virtual league finals and last competed on an actual course at the 2024 British Open.
