GRAMMY-winning guitarist Tom Morello played his first concert in India on December 17 at the HUDA Gymkhana Club in Gurugram. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee brought three decades of music to thousands of fans. He performed hits from Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and his solo project, The Nightwatchman.
The 61-year-old opened the show with his son, Roman Morello. They kicked things off with a special performance together. The Freedom Fighters Orchestra supported them throughout the night, featuring Carl Restivo on guitar and vocals, Dave Gibbs on bass, and Eric Gardner on drums.
Morello rocked the crowd with Rage Against the Machine classics. Songs like “Killing in the Name” sent fans into a frenzy, followed by “Bulls on Parade.” He also played “Testify” and “Guerrilla Radio.” From The Nightwatchman, he delivered powerful tracks like “One Man Revolution” and “The Ghost of Tom Joad.” The setlist included some covers as well.
During the show, Morello paid tribute to his late bandmate Chris Cornell by leaving the microphone empty for two Audioslave songs. He played “Cochise” and “Like a Stone” as instrumentals, creating a touching moment that reminded everyone of Cornell’s spirit.
“One more time for Justice. One more time for Freedom. And one more time for Rock and Roll,” Morello told the audience before closing the show with “Freedom.”
This concert was part of a three-city tour produced by BookMyShow Live, which also included performances in Mumbai on December 19 and Bengaluru on December 21. Each show featured a similar setlist, celebrating Morello’s incredible career across various bands and solo projects.
