In a recent interview, he shared his excitement about the opportunity to honor these heavy metal legends and aimed to create “the greatest and most important day in the history of heavy metal.”
While planning the concert, Morello had the chance to communicate directly with Ozzy and Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, which he described as “really pretty mind-blowing.” The event, titled Back To The Beginning, had many memorable moments for Morello, especially Yungblud’s rendition of “Changes.” However, one moment stood out above the rest: playing “Breaking The Law” with former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing.
“Playing ‘Breaking The Law’ with K.K. Downing, along with Adam Jones from Tool and Billy Corgan, was incredible,” Morello said. “We all grew up on Judas Priest and Black Sabbath. To be reunited in a stadium far from our hometown, performing songs from these iconic bands, was pretty mind-blowing.”
The concert was a celebration of heavy metal history, bringing together fans and musicians who have been influenced by these legendary acts.
