Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath has shared some exciting news about his upcoming solo project. In a New Year’s message, he reflected on 2025, highlighting his reunion with bandmates Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler for the Back to the Beginning show in July. He also mentioned the band receiving the Freedom of the City honor in their hometown of Birmingham, England, where the concert took place.
However, 2025 also brought sadness with the passing of Ozzy just weeks after the concert. Iommi expressed his feelings about this loss but remained optimistic about the future. He confirmed that his solo album will definitely be released in 2026, saying, “I’m really looking forward to that. I’m enjoying doing it, and it’s been great fun. I really hope you enjoy it.”
In other news, Geezer Butler recently talked about how artificial intelligence is helping him with his music. During a Q&A at the 2025 Steel City Con, he revealed that he has a lot of new material and that AI has been a game-changer for him. “I didn’t have a singer when I was at home, but AI came along. I’ve updated all my songs and I’m using an AI singer to bring the lyrics to life,” he explained. This way, he can present a clearer vision to the singers he plans to work with. He added that while some may think it’s cheating, it has really helped him in the creative process.
