A new tribute album honoring the late Shane MacGowan, frontman of The Pogues, has been announced. Titled *20th Century Paddy – The Songs of Shane MacGowan*, the album will be released on November 13.
This exciting record features contributions from a star-studded lineup, including Bruce Springsteen, Hozier, Dropkick Murphys, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Libertines, Tom Waits, Primal Scream, model Kate Moss, and actors Jessie Buckley and Johnny Depp, along with The Pogues themselves.
Bruce Springsteen’s version of The Pogues’ classic “A Rainy Night in Soho” is available now. In a statement, Springsteen shared his thoughts on MacGowan, saying, “Shane was all naked bottomless humanity. He made us question if we were living deeply and authentically. He was raw, hilarious, and profound.”
Shane MacGowan passed away in 2023 at the age of 65. In 2024, The Pogues reunited and announced a U.S. tour for 2025, featuring original members Spider Stacy, Jem Finer, and James Fearnley, along with guest vocalists and musicians.
Fans of MacGowan and The Pogues can look forward to this tribute album and the upcoming tour, celebrating the music and legacy of one of rock’s most iconic figures.
