West Yorkshire Police have arrested two more people in connection with the murder of Ian Watkins, the former frontman of Lostprophets. Watkins, who was serving a 29-year sentence for serious crimes, was killed on October 11 at HMP Wakefield prison.
On October 13, police charged Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, with Watkins’ murder. They have now also arrested two additional men, aged 23 and 29, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team said, “Extensive enquiries remain ongoing in relation to the murder of Ian Watkins and these arrests form part of that. Ian Watkins’ family are being updated as the investigation progresses. However, we do not anticipate any immediate developments at this stage.”
Watkins was first charged with his crimes in 2012, and Lostprophets officially disbanded in 2013. Fans of the band and the music community are closely following this story as it unfolds.
