U2 contributes to Shane MacGowan tribute album

U2 is set to join the tribute album for Shane MacGowan, the late frontman of The Pogues. The album, titled “20th Century Paddy – The Songs of Shane MacGowan,” will feature U2’s take on the Pogues’ song “Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah.” It is scheduled for release on November 13.

The album will also include Bruce Springsteen’s cover of “A Rainy Night in Soho.” Other artists contributing to the project are Hozier, who performs the holiday favorite “Fairytale of New York” with Oscar-winning actress Jessie Buckley, as well as Dropkick Murphys, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Tom Waits, and The Pogues themselves. Fans can find the full track list on MacGowan’s Instagram.

Shane MacGowan passed away in 2023 at the age of 65. The Pogues reunited in 2024 and kicked off a U.S. tour in 2025, featuring original members Spider Stacy, Jem Finer, and James Fearnley, along with guest vocalists and musicians.
