U2 Hints at Release of First New Album in Almost Ten Years

U2 is set to release its first album in nine years. The Irish rock band has been busy in the studio, working on music that may connect with their 50th anniversary in 2026. This new album will follow 2017’s *Songs of Experience*, their last full album of original songs. So far, there’s no release date or title announced.

Bono shared that the band is eager for this new music. “Everyone in the band seems desperate for it,” he said. “It’s like their lives depend on it.” Guitarist The Edge mentioned in a recent interview that some tracks might have an Irish folk sound. The band often explores different styles before bringing everything together.

Producer Brian Eno is back on board for this project. He has worked with U2 on classic albums like *The Joshua Tree*, *Achtung Baby*, and *Zooropa*. Bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. are also part of the team. Mullen returned to full sessions after recovering from surgery in 2023.

U2 has been developing these songs over several years. Their recent residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas drew a lot of attention in 2023 and 2024. Bono hinted that this new album could lead to a tour. “I hope they’re going to still be there for us,” he said about the fans. “We’ve pushed them to their elastic limit over the years.”

Stay tuned for more updates on U2’s upcoming album and possible tour!
