This week Universal Music Group’s Twitch channel 3point5 will present a new episode of In The Groove, its recurring series in partnership with uDiscover. Airing Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. PDT, the new episode’s guest will be Jeff Fura, VP of A&R at UMe. Fura will be on hand to highlight catalog releases from Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, and a 20th anniversary reissue of the Almost Famous soundtrack.

In honor of its 30th anniversary, Nirvana’s third and final album, In Utero, received a massive reissue. The 5CD super deluxe edition features the original 1993 album plus five b-sides and newly remastered bonus tracks, two complete concerts (Los Angeles ’93 and Seattle ’94) and six bonus live songs from the tour. The package includes a series of bonus items like an angel-on-acrylic panel, a 48-page book with unreleased photos, a new 20-page fanzine, a LA gig poster litho, two ticket stubs, replicas of the promo angel mobile, three gig flyers, all-access tour laminate, four backstage passes, and more.

On September 17, 1991, Guns N’ Roses released a pair of albums, Use Your Illusion I and II. Both albums were repackaged as part of a 12LP super deluxe vinyl and Blu-Ray box set. The package contains a total of 87 tracks, 63 of which are unreleased audio and video tracks, and marks the first time that both records have been remastered from high-resolution 96kHz 24-bit transfers from the original stereo 1/2-inch analog master tapes. Use Your Illusion I features a version of “November Rain” performed for the first time ever with a 50-piece orchestra, conducted and arranged by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Lennertz. The collection’s Live in New York and Las Vegas albums are the first-ever-released complete concerts from that era. The collection features a Blue-Ray film of the Live in New York concert, newly transferred from 35mm film prints.

For its 20th anniversary, the Almost Famous soundtrack received its own reissue as a super-deluxe 6LP 180-gram vinyl box set. The Grammy Award-winning soundtrack features 47 tracks from Cameron Crowe’s 2000 film including classics by Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and six songs by Stillwater, the movie’s fictional band. Several unreleased tracks appear as well, like “Tiny Dancer (Almost Famous Version)” with Elton John and the cast, The Who’s “Amazing Journey / Sparks (Almost Famous Version)” and more. The package includes a few exclusive collectibles like a Stillwater poster, concert tickets, a 40-page book, and the William Miller cover story on Stillwater as a ’73 Rolling Stone newsprint.
