Universal Music has just launched RE:VERSAL, a new electronic music initiative. Founder Felix Lindsell calls it the “first dance and electronic initiative of its kind.” RE:VERSAL aims to unite classic tracks, hidden gems, and rare music from the world’s largest music archive, featuring influential labels throughout history.
The imprint will showcase a mix of labels, artists, and genres, from the downtempo vibes of Kruder and Dorfmeister to the garage house sounds of Masters At Work. The first release, titled REV001, is set to drop this October. It will include tracks from artists like Soul II Soul, The Orb, Alex Reece, and The Future Sound of London. This collection will be available as a limited-edition 12” 180g heavyweight vinyl. A second release, REV002, is expected before the end of 2025.
But that’s not all! RE:VERSAL will also offer exciting extras for electronic music fans, including DJ interviews, events, radio shows, and artist collaborations. Fans can look forward to pop-up events and playlists, as well as DJ mixes featuring other influential electronic musicians.
Right now, RE:VERSAL is running a competition where you can win special vinyl releases from Universal’s archive. Lindsell has been passionate about electronic music since he was a teenager, starting as a collector and crate-digger. He has worked as a music journalist and with record stores and distributors. Besides RE:VERSAL, he co-runs the label and clothing brand Dr. Banana, which has performed in countries like the UK, Croatia, Spain, and Albania.
