Vince Neil performed his first solo show in nearly two years over the holiday weekend in Boone, Iowa, and many people are talking about it but for all the wrong reasons.

While it’s not known how long Neil’s set was going to be, his show ended up being barely 14 songs, according to Setlist.fm. At the start of “Girl, Girls, Girls,” Neil tried to hit those notes in the first verse but to no avail. He ended up bowing out and telling the crowd, “Hey guys. I’m sorry, you guys. It’s been a long time playin’. My f—in’ voice is gone. We love you and we uhh… hope to see you next time, man. Thank you.” The fact that his backing band continued to sing backing vocals during his impromptu speech made things even more awkward.

There were signs earlier in the set that fans were in for a bumpy night. During just the second song of the set (“Dr. Feelgood”), Neil was garbling lyrics badly.

Motley Crue came out of retirement to be part of the mega bill dubbed “The Stadium Tour,” which also features Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. While that tour has now been postponed until the summer of 2022, these fan-shot videos do not bode well for what might be in store next summer.
