Vince Staples Announces ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart: The Musical’ Cinematic Performance Special

Vince Staples has returned with his fifth studio album Ramona Park Broke My Heart, out via Motown Records and Blacksmith Recordings. The record, which follows up his 2021 self-titled album, arrives alongside the announcement of a complete cinematic performance special.

Ramona Park Broke My Heart: The Musical will be hosted on Moment House on May 1 and 2, depending on the viewing territory. The event will feature music from Ramona Park Broke My Heart as well as tracks spanning his entire catalog. Ticket sales for the visual experience are available now via the official Moment House website.

The visual landscape of Ramona Park Broke My Heart: The Musical will draw inspiration directly from the album, which pays tribute to the Romona Park neighborhood in Long Beach, California where Staples grew up.

“I am often told the lie that life is what you make it. For over a decade, most of my work has been an anthology of what I believed to be home. Now I’ve realized that it reaches beyond location,” Staples wrote in a statement about the album. “I have been exploring the utility of home. Security. Comfort. Meaning. The answer. The excuse. To outgrow is to love blindly no longer. ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’ is the story of that growth.”

The Moment House event will put the vulnerability of Ramona Park Broke My Heart in conversation with the initial peek under the surface that the rapper offered on Vince Staples. He added: “I’m still working through things and the questions that life poses. This album will make even more sense if you heard the previous one.”
