Weber Grills Share Meatloaf Recipe After Meat Loaf Died, Issues Apology

Weber Grills experienced some very unfortunate timing when they shared a recipe for meatloaf within 24 hours of the singer Meat Loaf dying at the age of 74.

Per MarketWatch, the company sent out its “Recipe-of-the-Week” email for BBQ Meat Loaf on Friday, January 21. News of Meat Loaf’s death on January 20 broke in the early hours of January 21.

Weber followed up with an email that read, in part, “At the time we shared this recipe with you, we were not aware of the unfortunate passing of American singer and actor Mr. Marvin Lee Aday, also known as Meat Loaf. We want to express our deepest apologies for this oversight and for any offense this email may have caused.”

While the “Recipe-of-the-Week” email was likely scheduled out well in advance, it seems as though people who subscribe to Weber’s emails weren’t too phased by the incident. One person shared a screenshot of the email to Twitter and added, “FWIW I love my Weber Grill LMAO. Also will tolerate no disrespect of the Weber comms team. This is the rare brand email that not only made me love them more but also made me laugh so hard I cried. Thought about grilling tonight in 20 degree weather.”
