Weezer Set to Launch 1992 Demo Collection on Record Store Day

Weezer is set to release a collection of demos from November 1992 called *1192* on Record Store Day 2026. This album features the band’s first studio recordings, which founding bassist Matt Sharp discovered while going through his archives. He found a multi-track reel of analogue tape that dates back to the band’s early days.

The collection includes ten tracks, featuring the original lineup of Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Matt Sharp, and Jason Cropper. Among the songs are rough versions of tracks that later appeared on their iconic 1994 *Blue Album*, including “Say It Ain’t So.” These songs played a key role in helping the band secure a contract with Geffen Records in 1993. Other tracks on the album include “,” “,” and “.”

Sharp took on the production role for this release, while Joe Chicarrelli mixed the recordings directly from tape to vinyl using analogue equipment. This will be the first time these recordings are available in stores, although a four-song version has been shared online for years under the name *The Real Demo*. The band distributed tapes after their original 1992 session.

Rivers Cuomo recently reflected on the experience of creating their debut album, noting how close the band was during that time, both physically and emotionally, in their small Los Angeles apartments.

*1192* will be released by Ernest Jenning Record Co. as an “RSD first” release, meaning more copies will be available after the initial batch sells out. The vinyl will drop on April 18, with only 3,000 copies being pressed.
