Wolfgang Van Halen took a moment to pay tribute to his father, Eddie Van Halen, on what would have been his 66th birthday.

Wolfgang share a couple of home movie clips to social media along with the following message: “Happy 66th Birthday, Pop. I wish I could give you the biggest hug and celebrate it with you. I love and miss you so much it hurts. I don’t even know how to put it into words. I’ve been doing my best to hold it together, but goddammit it’s really tough being here without you. Not a second has gone by where you haven’t been on my mind, and today will be no different. Love and miss you beyond words, Pop.”

Wolfgang released his debut solo single in November titled “Distance” under the name Mammoth WVH. The track serves as a tribute to his father. In a statement on the song, Wolfgang said, “‘Distance’ is a song that was initially written for the debut album, but was going to be held for a later time. As my pop continued to struggle with various health issued I was imagining what my life would be like without him and how terribly I’d miss him.”

He continued, “While this song is incredibly personal, I think anyone can relate to the idea of having a profound loss in their own life. I never anticipated ‘Distance’ would be the first song of mine that people would hear, but I also thought my father would be here to celebrate its release along with me. This is for him.”
