The Pretty Reckless has just released the music video for their new song “When I Wake Up.” The video features frontwoman Taylor Momsen reuniting with her former Gossip Girl co-stars Jessica Szohr and Connor Paolo.
The NSFW video showcases a wild night filled with sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll. It also includes cameos from Pat Smear and Ilan Rubin of the Foo Fighters. Momsen explains that she wanted the video to reflect a chaotic time in her life. “We shot it raw, with no grade, no filter,” she said. “Reality doesn’t come color-corrected, and I didn’t want to change what we captured.”
She adds that the video illustrates the dangers of chasing highs through substances and sex, which can lead to self-destruction. “It leaves you emptier than where you began,” she notes.
The “When I Wake Up” video is now available on YouTube. The song will be featured on The Pretty Reckless’ upcoming album, Dear God, set to release on June 26. The album will also include the single “For I Am Death.”
In addition to the album, The Pretty Reckless will kick off a U.S. headlining tour in July and will also be opening for AC/DC on select dates. Stay tuned for more updates!
