ive Nation Entertainment has reached a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), ending a high-stakes federal antitrust lawsuit that sought to dismantle the company’s alleged monopoly over the live music industry. The deal, struck just days after the trial began in New York, allows Live Nation to retain Ticketmaster but imposes significant "structural changes" to its business operations.

Under the terms of the agreement, Live Nation will pay between $200 million and $300 million in damages to participating states. Key reforms include:

Exclusivity Caps: Long-term exclusive ticketing contracts are now capped at four years.

Platform Access: Ticketmaster must open its technology to competitors like SeatGeek and Eventbrite, allowing them to list tickets directly through its system.

Venue Divestiture: Live Nation is required to sell more than 10 of its owned and operated amphitheaters.

Fee Caps: Service fees will be capped at 15% of a ticket's face value.

The settlement concludes a legal battle that began in May 2024, fueled by public outcry following the 2022 Taylor Swift "Eras Tour" ticketing collapse.

A high-profile reimagining of Van Halen’s classic hit "Jump" has been released as the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Commissioned by Coca-Cola, the track features blink-182 drummer Travis Barker alongside guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin, and singer-songwriter Amber Mark.

The release is accompanied by an animated music video depicting the artists performing in a "space stadium" to celebrate the global joy of soccer. Singer Amber Mark noted that the project aimed to honor the original 1984 track while "bringing a modern perspective" to connect generations of fans. The anthem arrives ahead of the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe has issued a direct challenge to his fellow artists and musicians, urging them to use their platforms to speak out against social and political injustices. In an interview with Full Metal Jackie, Blythe addressed the current state of the U.S., specifically citing concerns over government actions and recent enforcement-related incidents.

 Blythe Stated:

"Don't be a coward, speak up, Amongst people of my generation and older, I sure would like to see a little bit more vocal discontent, Shout out to the Dropkick Murphys. And shout out to Bruce Springsteen, you know?"

I think coming from an underground sort of music, I'm not here to sing love songs. I'm not here to make sure everybody's having a good time at the party. Let's speak some words of substance, let's address some distressing concerns. And there are a lot of them right now."

The message coincides with the upcoming release of Lamb of God's new album, Into Oblivion, due March 13, which Blythe notes will explore themes regarding the "rapid breakdown of the social contract" in America.

Slipknot co-founder Shawn "Clown" Crahan has opened up about his decision to move from his longtime home in Iowa to Palm Springs, California. In a recent interview, Crahan explained that after decades in the Midwest, he felt a need for a change in environment to support his creative and personal evolution.

Crahan described the "incredible energy" of the desert landscape as a major draw, noting that the new setting has provided a fresh perspective for his artistic endeavors. While he remains deeply connected to Slipknot's roots, he emphasized that the move represents a necessary chapter in his life. This transition comes as the band prepares for a busy 2026, including their highly anticipated "25th Anniversary" tour dates.

Crahan stated:

"There's some health things, you know, and the sun is always out here. It is always blue skies. The energy is incredible, and it's just better for what my wife and I are doing now in our life, which is trying to be stress-free as much as possible and appreciate each other. All the kids are out of the house, so, it's been a long haul dedicating to art and life. So, we moved to Palm Springs to take a load off and get a different energy and have blue skies [and] warm weather that just feels good all day, every day."

Shinedown singer Brent Smith has shared new details regarding the band’s eighth studio album, titled Ei8ht, scheduled for release on May 29 via Atlantic Records. In an interview with Audacy Music's Katie & Company, Smith explained that the album features 18 songs, making it "essentially a double record".

Departing from the conceptual themes of the band's last two releases, Smith described Ei8ht as a "traditional record" where each song exists as its own entity. The album is the result of a year-and-a-half-long production journey and follows a string of successful singles, including "Dance, Kid, Dance" and "Three Six Five." Shinedown will support the release with the "Dance, Kid, Dance Act II" world tour and their curated festival event, the Lunatic Ball Beach Weekend, in October 2026.

Courtney Love has officially shut down speculation regarding a full Hole reunion, despite recently teasing a tour with former bassist Melissa Auf der Maur. After posting a video of Auf der Maur set to the band's 1998 hit "Malibu" with the caption, "So do we tell the kids about the tour?", Love later clarified in social media comments that the upcoming shows are "not a reunion".

Instead, the duo will be performing "new songs" together, likely in support of Love's long-awaited solo album, which features vocal contributions from Auf der Maur. This news arrives as Auf der Maur prepares to release her memoir, Even the Good Girls Will Cry, on March 17, and Love continues to promote her new documentary, Antiheroine, which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

In an interview with The Guardian, Jack White shared his philosophy on incorporating politics into music, drawing a distinction between his personal activism and his songwriting. White cited Bob Dylan’s "Blowin' in the Wind" as a primary example of effective songwriting, noting that while the song is deeply political, Dylan "didn't tell you what the answer was," allowing the listener to find their own meaning.

While White has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump on social media and has performed at political events—such as a 2019 Bernie Sanders rally where he covered Dylan's "License to Kill"—he explained that he prefers to avoid direct political messaging in his own lyrics. "If I were to put it in artistic form, I don't think I would say those things directly," White stated, expressing a preference for the "metaphorical" approach used by artists like Dylan and The Beatles.

Black Label Society kicked off their 2026 North American tour on Friday, March 6, at the Mission Ballroom in Denver, Colorado, with a surprise addition to their setlist. For the first time since 2001, the band performed a cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s 1991 classic "No More Tears".

The performance served as a poignant tribute to the late "Prince of Darkness," following his passing in July 2025. Zakk Wylde, who co-wrote the track and played on the original album, formed Black Label Society in 1998 while serving as Ozzy's longtime guitarist. The tour also features Wylde’s Black Sabbath tribute act, Zakk Sabbath, and precedes the March 27 release of the band's 13th studio album, Engines of Demolition, which includes a dedicated tribute track titled "Ozzy's Song".

Netflix has released the first trailer for The Rise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Our Brother, Hillel, a new documentary centered on the band's early years and the legacy of founding guitarist Hillel Slovak. Directed by Ben Feldman, the film features archival footage and new interviews with Anthony Kiedis, Flea, and John Frusciante, as well as former drummer Jack Irons and producer George Clinton.

The documentary explores the group's "gritty formative years" in the Los Angeles music scene and the profound impact Slovak had on their funk-rock sound before his death in 1988. Notably, the band recently issued a statement clarifying that while members participated in interviews out of respect for Slovak's memory, they did not have creative control over the project and do not consider it the "official" Red Hot Chili Peppers documentary. The film is set to premiere at SXSW on March 13 before arriving on Netflix globally on March 20, 2026.
